    4. 4 NM RHIO Vision/Mission To substantially improve the health and safety of New Mexico residents (across geographic, time, social, language and cultural barriers) by enhancing the ability of the healthcare delivery system to capture and share health information, improve efficiency, protect patient privacy, and support clinical research and public health. This will be enabled through the routine and effective use of healthcare information technologies.

    5. 5 NM RHIO Collaborative Partners NMHIC (Lovelace Clinic Foundation) Network will initially share claims data, later EHRs Focus on chronic diseases (i.e.: diabetes, pediatric asthma, etc.) NM Telehealth Alliance Network providing telehealth services to rural NM Working with DOH, UNM & others NMMRA Provides Medicare QIO services Supporting adoption of EHRs in medical practices (DOQ-IT) New Mexico Medical Society

    6. 6 Approach Development of RHIO will be driven by: Healthcare priorities of the community & stakeholders Key decisions to develop the RHIO Information & criteria to enable key decisions Consensus methods used to build trust As the key decisions are made to create the RHIO, the Project Plan will evolve into more of an Operational Plan

Guiding Principles: Independence and autonomy of stakeholders will be respected IT is not the goal, it is the enabler RHIO should be financially self-sufficient based on revenue from the services it provides Affordable services should be available to rural and underserved populations Realistic expectations need to be maintained

    8. 8 NM RHIO Development Milestones July-October, 2004: Initial RHIO Strategy by NMMRA July-Current: Information Gathering on national strategy and emerging RHIOs March, 2005: NMMRA RHIO Planning Meetings March-May, 2005: RHIO Stakeholder Planning Meetings July, 2005: 1st RHIO Stakeholder Meeting
