Opportunity Compilers OS Adv. Arch VLSI DSP Robotics Control Computation focusing on Embedded. Hardware design focused on FPGA. Computer Architecture. • Shared curriculum, feeding multiple tracks CSE143: Programming 2 EE215/EE205 CSE142: Programming 1
Timeline • Merging of classes approved last winter • Joint offerings starting Autumn 2014 • Renumbering, other cleanup during 2014-2015 school year • Joint classes with different numbers (for now) • Mix of old-style and new-style 2nd digital logic class • Some add codes needed in places • Bottom line: new options to current students, but old structure still available.

EE Concentrations • Digital VLSI
14-15 Schedule (Unified) Note: additional EE472 offering in Fall is very likely. Red = CSE Offering = “Old-style” offering
Student plan • If you know your concentration is embedded • Do curriculum as normal. However, you can pick whether to take 332 or 371 (or just take both). • If a concentration course isn’t in EE in a quarter, see if there is a CSE equivalent that quarter. • If you know your concentration is digital VLSI • Either take 476-477 next year (2014-2015), or take 371 next year. • If you are considering embedded or digital VLSI • Like 271 and CSE 142 -> try embedded, take 472 to figure out for sure. • Like 271 and 331/circuits -> try digital VLSI, take 476 in Autumn. • If you aren’t considering embedded or digital VLSI • Take 271 – important class for most tracks. Plus, it might entice you… • If interested in computation (DSP?), try CSE 373, CSE 374, CSE 351
