  1. Science Laboratory Equipment

  2. Goggles: Used to protect your eyes from broken glass, chemicals and flames Watchglass: Used as a beaker cover. You can also place small amounts of chemicals on it and then heat it. Funnel: Used with filter paper to remove undissolved solids from a liquid mixture. It can also be used to help pour a liquid into a container that has a small opening. Test Tube Rack: Holds test tubes. Clay Triangle: Frame which can support another container. Evaporating dish: used as a container for heating, usually when you want to evaporate a liquid from some chemicals.

  3. Wire Gauze: Used to support a container during heating. Test Tube Brush: Used to clean test tubes. Test Tube Clamp: Holds a test tube during heating. Balance: Used to measure the mass of an object in grams. Forceps: used to pick up small items. Ring Clamp: Attached to the ring stand and is used as a support.

  4. Scoopula/Spatula: Used to transfer chemicals. Florence Flask: Used to hold a liquid during heating. Erlenmeyer Flask: gives only approximate measurements of volume. Usually used as a mixing vessel or a container for heating. Thermometer: Used to take temperature (C). Mortar and Pestle: Used to grind or crush up chemicals. Wash Bottle: Used to rinse glassware in the chemistry lab. Not used to rinse your eyes.

  5. Ring Stand: Offers support Graduated Cylinder: Used to measure the volume of liquids in mL. Beaker: Doesn’t measure the volume of liquids very accurately. Usually used as a container for mixing or holding chemicals. Dropper Pipet: Dispenses small drops of liquid Rubber Tubing: Gas flows through tubing, into bunsen burner. Stricker/Flint Ligher: Used to ignite the flame.

  6. Crucible and Cover: Used to hold small amounts of chemicals during heating at high temperatures, especially if you want to keep out oxygen from the reaction.
