  8. Wire feeder • Drives coil with wire. For a smooth course of welding process a constant and continuous speed of wire feeding is important. As a feed drive are used DC derivation drives, drives with permanent magnets or high quality motors with disc rotor. These have a very long service life.

  10. Protective gas • Protects melted medium again surrounded air • Influence shape of weld • Protective gases are tasteless, colorless, odorless • Protective gasses are poisonless

  11. Fault of welded connections • Fault: • Draft (especially at construction sites) influences protective gas coverage • Result: • Insufficient gas protection creates weld air bubbles

  12. Insufficient root penetration Too small angle of opening – correct value is 40o to 60 o Too blunt edge - big edge offset Welding on cambered bottom layer Correct procedure: Grinding off bottom layer before welding Too big edge overlap
