Summary of results A3 phages were split into two branches with two sub-branches form the main branches. The first main branch containing sub-branches with phages 1). Methuselah, Spike509, Phoxy, Misomonster and 2). Veracruz, Popsicle, Norbert. The second main branch containing sub-branches with phages 1). HelDan, Rockstar, Phantastic and 2). Jobu08, Microwolf, Maniac, EpicPhail, JHC117, Marquardt, Vis. Data Our phylogenetic tree diagrams showed two distinct branches and two sub-branches from each bigger branch. The same phages, in each program, were organized into the same groups. The one main branche contained A3 phages, Methuselah, Spike509, Phoxy, Misomonster, Veracruz, Popsicle, and Norbert. The other main branch had phages HelDan, Rockstar, Phantastic, Jobu08, Microwolf, Maniac, EpicPhail, JHC117, MarQuardt, and Vix. Abstract We looked at A3 phages thorough MEGA and SplitsTree programs to determine if they should be split into two sub-clusters. We discovered that A3 phages could be logically split into two sub-clusters with two sub-sub-clusters. Image1: Phylogenetic Tree From MEGA using DNA integrase Conclusions/Discussion These results show us the A3 phages should be split into two sub-clusters with two sub-sub-clusters. The only discrepancy between the two phylogenetic trees were that phage 205870 was not present on the SplitsTree image and phages Bxz2 and GinkoMaracino were not present on the MEGA tree. Introduction We looked at the A3 sub-cluster in MEGA and SplitsTree programs to determine whether or not it should be divided into two sub-clusters or even sub-sub-clusters. Our hypothesis is that the A3 sub-cluster should become more than one sub-cluster due to immunity testing results done previously on A3 phages. SplitsTree4 (version 4.13.1, built 16 Apr 2013) Methods We inserted A3 phage DNA sequences from Case IT and PhagesDB into MEGA and Split Tree programs and created phylogenetic tree diagrams to compare the relationships between the sequences.
