2.09 Uniting Homeless Service Partners Around a Common Vision to End Family Homelessness
Homelessness is SUPER complex, therefore we must: • Understand your data • Be willing to have the conversation with stakeholders about where we are currently • Work to break down silos and build a team with a shared goal and common vision • Embrace and invest in strategies that we know will work to end homelessness
Understand your Data • It is imperative that you understand your data and trends in homelessness, before engaging key stakeholders • Be able to tell your community’s story • Who are you serving and what interventions do you have at your disposal
Conversing with Stakeholders • If you don’t have a plan to end homelessness, develop one. If you have one share it! • Inspire the community • Help them understand how helping you, helps them and your community at large • Solicit community feedback when and where possible.
Engaging Community Stakeholders • Identify partners receiving local, state or federal funds in support of efforts to end homelessness. • Engage local politicians • If your community has philanthropic partners looking to support a good cause, engage them! • Inform faith based organizations and garner their support in assisting neighbors in need • Engage the Veteran’s Administration • Don’t underestimate the support of the business community and local hospitals
