  1. InnovationPlayground to a sustainablefuture Group 1 Arjan Cornet Susan Varenbrink Mark Voerman Piter Brandenburg Richard Ruitenburg

  2. Circularity • the smaller the circle, the better • innovation is neededfor a sustainablefuture

  3. Measurementfor Maintenance

  4. Measurementfor Maintenance Problem • The process of ageing is unknown. • Henceremaininglifetime is unknown. • Toincreasecircularity, the assetshouldbeused as long as possible. • Current load and load capacityneedtobeknown (TiedoTinga – load vs. load capacity). Solution • measurementstoincreaseunderstanding of ageingprocess: - oil quality - outside temperature - oil temperature - electrical load (mean and peaks) • 10 transformers per agegroup of different capacitiesand types • no exchange of these transformers, but add a redundant onetomaintainreliability • thisalsoallowstooverloadtransformerstoincreaseageing - withevery 6 degreesincrease in hotspottemperature, the ageingrate doubles

  5. Innovation Incentives Problem • The manufacturer does not have a constant incentive toincreasesustainability • Henceinnovation is mainlyrelatedto the procurementprocess • Without innovation, a sustainablefuturecannotbereached Solution • Cooperation through the supply chain by shared KPIs(Henk Akkermans & SimmeDouwe Flapper) • WhatKPIstomeasure? • circularity • energy efficiency • reliability • Thisgives IEO the possibilitytocomewith a business case toreplaceoldtransformersforinnovativeones(Jan Braaksma)

  7. Design forcircularity

  8. InnovationPlayground Problem • Conservative business while innovation is needed • Reliability may not suffer as a result of innovation • Innovations are needed to increase sustainability • Pilot studies can prove the reliability of innovations Solution • innovation playgrounds with redundant transformer • automatic switching in case of failure (with sensor equipment) • redundant transformermaybeusedtoregulate loads on the transformer • design for maintenance andsustainability(Leo van Dongen & Wienik Mulder) - measurement equipment - modular design (repleaceablewindings/coils) - reliable - oilreplacement - energy efficiency - icebergs: on-load-tap-changer, 10kV to 20kV, energy storage (Richard Ruitenburg)

  9. Multi Decision Criteria Analysis Tool Theoryused Jan Braaksma & Maurits Korse – business cases
