Material Prices • We have seen substantial falls in prices of some (not all) recovered materials • Why? • Global economic and financial conditions • major industries are seeing weaker demand for their products and cut backs in supply • fewer raw materials needed, including recovered materials • Also affecting primary commodity markets

Overall • The markets have calmed after excessive volatility, prices remain depressed but markets are stabilising and some prices are picking up • Materials are moving, high quality materials are experiencing fewer difficulties achieving value and finding markets • Survey evidence from local authorities indicates no significant stockpiles. Consistent with data from the EA also suggesting no significant increase in storage • WRAP continue to work to stimulate the market for recycled materials
