Thenation’sdamsareagingandthenumberofhigh-hazard damsis ontherise.Manyofthesedamswerebuiltaslow-hazard damsprotectingundevelopedagriculturalland.However,withan increasingpopulationandgreaterdevelopmentbelowdams,the overallnumberofhigh-hazarddamscontinuestoincrease,to nearly 14,000in2012.
