Workforce Initiatives • B.S. in Respiratory Care (Rapid City) • Currently, financial support from Rapid City Regional Hospital but contract ends FY10 • Labor demand • 2002-03 statewide survey of acute-care facilities showed a 12% vacancy rate for respiratory therapists • An additional 91 therapists (33% increase) needed in state by 2014 (SD Dept of Labor) • 23% increase in demand predicted nationally by 2016 (Occupational Outlook Handbook)
