Fort Sumter • The firing on Ft. Sumter was the start of the shooting conflict between the north and the south.
Emancipation Proclamation • Issued after the start of the war • Written by President Lincoln • Met mixed reactions • Ordered the slaves to be freed • This didn’t happen until the war ended.
