Conclusions * 32SSEs and 936 VLFEs were detectedfrom GEONET GPS data and F-net board band seismicdata near Ishigaki Island, southwest Japan. * Thoseevents occur along the Ryukyu subduction zone. The depths of SSEs are between 20-40km and the depths of VLFEs are between 10-30km. * The average recurrence interval of SSEs is 6.3 months. However, the interval period suddenly decreases to 4.5months during 2005 to 2007and then back to the previous level. * The slip volume ofSSEs in this area was not aconstant. From 1997 to 2008, slip volume is about 10cm/year, but the volume became 6cm/year only in 2008 to 2014.
* Taking into the results of slip amount variations of SSEs and the amount of VLFEs, we find that SSEs and VLFEs activities have a negative correlation in this area. * Moreover, magma injection which occurred in Okinawa trough could relate to the activity of SSEs.
