  4. AIMS • Must meet Standards in all three areas to graduate • Cannot retake if already exceeded • Practice tests at www.ade.gov

  5. CREDIT CHECKS • Total credits remaining…should be 12 or less, otherwise you will need to get credits outside of the regular school day. • AIMS—If approaching or falls far below, or no scores…will be on list to take again. This is for graduation purposes only

  8. How do I decide • Talk with people working in different professions • Have them describe to you what it is that they do • If it sounds interesting to you, ask if you can “job shadow” for a day

  9. What is my next step? • Research to see what education is needed for that occupation • Find a trade school, community college or university that offers the major (program of study) • Determine if that institution is a good fit!

  10. Community College Entrance Requirements • Accuplacer - Placement Test • Reading, Writing, Math • Can take at any of the community college campuses • You can get a full tuition on scholarship if you score high on the test! • No SAT or ACT required

Assured Admission • ASU and NAU No Course deficiencies AND one of the following: • Top 25% of Graduating Class (50% for NAU) OR • GPA of 3.0 OR • 1040 SAT OR • 22 ACT • U of A No Course deficiencies AND the following: • Arizona Resident • Holistic Application Review (GPA/SAT or ACT and personal essay)

The College Application Process Visit college campuses – you can even do an on-line campus tour: http://www.campustours.com/ • Register on the Career Center Website to attend college visits • Consult college websites (azcis.intocareers.org) • Know where to look for $$$$$$ • Discuss finances with your parents • Start narrowing your college choices. Begin applying as soon as the application is available • Preparing for college essay

  16. NCAA Athletic Eligibility • New Rules for Division I (no BYU on-line accepted) • Read the NCAA Student Manual (https://web1.ncaa.org/eligibilitycenter/common/) • Register for NCAA before the end of your Junior Year • Request to have your transcript sent in May

  20. Stay Focused • Keep up your grades • 6th semester Transcript Counts for college applications • Meet Deadlines • Keep an updated resume • Volunteer and community service really count!

  22. PSAT • Who: All juniors planning to take SAT • Why: SAT Prep, scholarship • When: October 16, 2013 • Cost: $22.00 • Prepare: Study booklet, previous PSAT tests, collegeboard.com, Princeton Review & Kaplan • Register in the ACP Career Center • Deadline is September 26
