  6. IDEA What does IDEA stand for? Individuals with Disabilities Education Act enacted in 1975 by congress What is its’ purpose? It ensures that all children with disabilities are entitled to a free appropriate public education to meet their unique needs and prepare them for future education, employment, and independent living.

  7. Types of Modifications and Accommodations • What do you think they are? • Why are they important?

What is Inclusion? • It is the way that children with special needs are placed in the general education setting with students without disabilities. • Sometime student might have aids with them, other are in co teaching classrooms, and some students with disabilities go on their own from class to class. • Two main type: Push In ( Student has aid and works directly with student) Full Inclusion ( Co-teaching classroom – a special education teacher is placed in the classroom to help the regular education is the teacher of record and is responsible for classroom instruction.)
