  2. A brief history of Dairy Queen • First Dairy Queen opened in 1940 Joliet Illinois • The first Dairy Queen in Canada opened in 1953 • International Dairy Queen, Inc. (IDQ.) is created in the year 1962 • In 1965 Dairy queens first national Radio advertisement send DQ message 169 million times a week. • The first national TV commercial is played in the year 1966 • 1989 was the year DQ was ranked America's number one treat chain • In 1991 the very first DQ store opens in Mexico • Best of all in 1999 an operator at several Dairy Queens made the worlds largest blended treat; it weighed a total of 5,316.6 pounds • Wow! In the year 2005 the record for world largest blizzard was beat… The new weight is 8224.85 pounds. It was 22ft. Tall.

  7. To buy an existing restaurant you must contact the restaurant owner. Owner will fill out a Transfer Request and Release form and submit to DQ Once Transfer Request and Release form is received, DQ Transfer Coordinator will contact both parties. To purchase a new DQ site, submit a Request Info form to DQ. DQ franchise recruiter will contact you. If your Request form is approved, you will visit corporate headquarters.
