MOVE TOGETHER – Understanding the project MOVE TOGETHER tasks: Raising the “citizens awareness” and “appreciation” of a wide range of EU transport research activities related to the goal of achieving more sustainable transport in our cities, by means of: 1) The activity of the citizens focus group and the “Move Together” citizens & stakeholders conference in Brussels 2) A local event in Rome (local citizens conference process) 3) Further exhibition and dissemination activities in 2009
MOVE TOGETHER – Citizens Awareness • AWARE OF WHAT ? • Become aware of what the European Commission is doing with the research funds (European taxpayers money) to achieve sustainable urban mobility in our cities • WHO SHOULD BE MADE AWARE ? • The citizens of the transnational focus group (27) and the panel of local citizens in Rome (25) • The citizens of the Rome metropolitan area (MOVE TOGETHER commitments) • The whole European citizens ! (MOVE TOGETHER exhibitions)
MOVE TOGETHER – Sustainable Urban Mobility • What we understand as “Sustainable Urban Mobility” ? • According to the Green Paper on Urban Mobility, moving • our cities towards: • Free-flowing towns and cities • Greener towns and cities • Smarter urban transport • Accessible urban transport • Safe and secure urban transport
MOVE TOGETHER – Appreciation of EU research • What does means to “appreciate” EU research ? • To give an opinion on the value of research from the perspective of the citizens that everyday face all over Europe increasing urban mobility problems • How to “appreciate” EU research ? • Not as individual citizens, e.g. responding to a questionnaire, but … • as citizens together to appreciate what is being done (or • can be done) in our cities with the help of EU research
MOVE TOGETHER – EU Urban Transport Research • FIRST STEP: • Review of Knowledge and Research on Urban Transport • Short overview of EU urban transport research projects • Appreciation of achievements for main urban transport research topics: • - Integrated urban transport solutions and management • - Urban transport pricing • - Technological solutions • - Strategic research
MOVE TOGETHER – Transnational citizens focus group mission • SECOND STEP: • The mission of the “transnational citizens focus group” • To raise their own awareness of EU urban transport research and to produce their own appreciation of this research as focus group • To communicate their appreciation of EU urban transport research to stakeholders representatives and policy makers at EU level (MOVE TOGETHER conference in Brussels, on June 2008) • To summarise their appreciation of EU research to solve urban mobility problems in the form of key messages for the other citizens in Europe (MOVE TOGETHER citizens’ digest)
MOVE TOGETHER – Local citizens panel mission • THIRD STEP: • The mission of the “local (Rome) citizens panel” • To raise their own awareness of the EU urban transport research and demonstration activities being implemented in Rome and give their appreciation • To communicate their appreciation of EU urban transport research to stakeholders representatives and policy makers at local level (MOVE TOGETHER conference in Rome, on November 2008) • To summarise their appreciation in form of recommendations for the implementation of EU research achievements in the Rome area (MOVE TOGETHER committments)

MOVE TOGETHER – Local Exhibitions • SIXTH STEP: Local Exhibitions • Based on a virtual version of the MOVE TOGETHER exhibition • To be held in about 10-20 towns scattered in different countries of Europe (selected by means of a tendering process) • During the European Mobility Week (September 2009)
