The appeal of Subjectivism I Love Jesus I neither condemn nor condone IM in worship. To me it is a matter of personal indifference, and should be left in the realm of personal preference. I do not regard it as a salvation or fellowship issue. . . . In my view, however, we have fussed and fought and fragmented over far too many "issues" such as this; matters about which God never spoke a single sentence in His Word. Much of our division is the result of deduction --- we have . . . divided when they refused to be shackled by our "inspired, infallible inferences." This is wrong! Expediency in human wisdom involves the right of choice within the realm of those things included in what God has authorized – When God specifies, then man has no choice but to obey or be in rebellion to God. To go beyond or fall short of that which is specified is “EVIL” – Numbers 20:8-12 Don McClain
If It Is Not Authorized In The Bible: • It is an addition to God’s word (Dt. 4:2; Pr. 30:5-6) • It is not as the oracles of God (1 Pet. 4:11) • It is not according to the pattern (Heb. 8:5) • It is another gospel (Gal. 1:6-10) • It is of men (Mt. 21:25) • It cannot be done by faith (Rom. 10:17) • It cannot be done in the name of the Lord (Col. 3:17) • It is not a good work (2 Tim. 3:16-17) • It does not pertain to life and godliness (2 Pet. 1:2-3) • It does not promote unity but division – (1 Cor. 1:10-11) • It causes one to not have God (2 Jn. 9-11) Don McClain
Conclusion • If the Bible specifies a thing or action then we are not at liberty to alter or add to that thing or action. • If the Bible gives a command that is general in nature without specifying the particulars, then all things necessary in carrying out that command in an orderly fashion which does not add to or alter the nature of said command is authorized.
