Willows & The Jordan river By: Jessie Duarte & Michael Spencer
Intro • Last week we planted willow branches along the banks of the Jordan river. Within 3 years, These willow branches grow roots 8-10 feet( in radius) of where the branch is planted. These roots give the banks shape and control The direction of the river flow. It also prevents erosion. The willows are native species which can be eaten by local beavers. Planting willows is cheap, easy and great for Jordan river habitat.
Roots as strong as brick Plants as beautiful as sun River eating bank.
‘round the river bend Weaving through the endless roots water carries on
Always flowing down Carrying sediment through Plants hold it back
Trees unyielding Water unstoppable force Nature, pure cycle
