We demand that the following actions be taken: 1) Test soil samples and split samples with interested parties to determine whether our homes, schools, and businesses are safe from asbestos and elevated metals concentrations by June 15th. 2) Explain the full range of contaminants that border residents were exposed to on April 13th by June 30th. Along with this explanation, release information regarding the chain of custody for this testing as well as information regarding the experts/agencies who conducted the analysis. 3) A third party (not the ASARCO Trustee) to provide data on metals concentrations in the soils of our homes and neighborhoods by June 30th. 4) Provide outreach by public health experts to the area of impact on both sides of the border regarding the harmful materials that were released during the April 13 demolition. Conduct outreach in English and Spanish and via multiple media by June 15th. Provide educational material as well as kits on how residents should clean their homes by June 15th. For residents unable or unwilling to clean their homes themselves, provide a way to get these homes cleaned by June 25th. 5) Provide free medical evaluation and blood screenings for those residents who wish to be tested by June 15th. 6) Hold a community meeting by July 1st to discuss next steps in the ASARCO site remediation efforts and provide residents information on how their input and engagement will shape future remediation efforts. Advertise this meeting through multiple media (not just the internet) and provide information in English and Spanish. 7) Explain the plan for long-term evaluation of potential health hazards in our water and soil. 8) Explain the plans for remediation of the site going forward.
