  2. What is Erasmus Mundus (EM)? • cooperation and mobility programme in the field of higher education

  3. Objectives of EM • enhance the quality of European higher education • promote dialogue and understanding between people and cultures through cooperation with Third-Countries education • development of human resources and the international cooperation capacity of Higher education institutions in Third Countries by increasing mobility between the European Union and these countries

  4. EM supports: • higher education institutions • individual students, researchers and university staff • any organization active in the field of higher education

  5. Universities involved: • Consortia include: • minimum of 5 higher education institutions from at least 3 European countries • number of higher education institutions from targeted non European regions.

  6. Who can participate? • Programme provide financial support to European and third-country individuals to allow them to carry out study, teaching or research activities in the framework of selected consortia or partnerships • Bachelor students • Masters students • Doctoral candidates • Postdoctoral candidates • Scholars/academic staff • Administrative staff from HEIs

  7. Scholarship • Scholarship amounts can vary according to the level of studies/teaching/research • Usually from 1000 EUR for BSc to 2500 EUR for teacher • Duration is from 3 months (academic staff) to 3 years (PhD students)

How to apply? • Choose consortium where your country is evolved at: • http://eacea.ec.europa.eu/erasmus_mundus/funding/2013/selection/selection_call_38_12_en.php • Apply directly to the selected consortium of choice • Go through a competitive selection process organized by the partners involved

Curriculum vitae • to "sell" your skills, abilities, qualifications and experience • no grammar errors! • targeted to chosen programme/job • logically ordered, easy to read, use of bullets • max 2 pages A4, academic CV 4 – 5 pages • no photo if not requested • no decorative details • bold and italic typefaces for headings and important information • each page on a separate sheet of paper, name on each • do not fold back!

Curriculum vitae • Be brief • only relevant, important and impressive information • Be positive • Confidently, strong points, higher grade first • Be honest • In interview you will be asked for details, no misleading information, but you can omit negative detail • Sweet spot • upper middle of the first page, essential information!

  14. Curriculum vitae - work experience • relate the skills to the job/programme • stress action, responsibility! • only work related to programme • no summer work in restaurant/bar • ex.: work in team, problem solving skills, planning, organization, coordination, communication..

  15. Curriculum vitae - education and training • start with secondary school, if not have university degree yet • list of degree subject • diplomas, titles • foreign fellowships • extra courses, trainings, workshops

Curriculum vitae - personal skills • Languages • level of the knowledge: basic, good, fluent • only true, easily can be controlled, certificates! • Computer skills • good working knowledge of MS Access and Excel, basic web page design skills etc. • Driving license • category A, B, C.. • Other skills related to programme • use of laboratory techniques etc.

  17. Motivationletter • to convince coordinator of the project that you are the most suitable candidate for chosen mobility • brief, well structured and without any errors! • usually divided into three paragraphs: • description of the position you are applying for • reason for your interest, why you are the most suitable candidate • as specific as possible, experience and knowledge closely related • show you know all details of the programme • wish to complete the necessary information at a personal interview, signature

  18. Research proposal • 3 pages: • describe the topic of the research • what research you plan to do at the host university • outcomes • knowledge you have, equipment/laboratory you need • include the references!!

  19. Recommendation letter • letter written by your teacher/employer/supervisor • how he/she knows you, how long, what activities you do together • recommendation related to the programme!

  20. Otherdocuments: • Academic transcript (an official list of courses you have attended so far, including Grade Point Average) • Copy of your secondary school / high school leaving certificate or university entrance exam results • Copy of your bachelor’s degree or an equivalent amount of ECTS credit points (180) if you want to register for a Master programme • Copy of your Masters/diploma degree if you want to register for a PhD programme
