Juvenile referrals – youths under age 17 Between 2010 and 2013 delinquency referrals of youth under the age of 16 declined by 34%. It declined 29% for 16-year olds. * 16-year olds were added to juvenile court as of January 1, 2010. Source: CSSD
Juvenile referrals – youths under age 19 Despite adding 16- and 17- year olds to the juvenile system, referrals were down 8% between 2010 and 2013. ** 17-year olds were added to juvenile court as of July 1, 2012. Source: CSSD

Summertime pre-trial population • The state’s pre-trial prison population rises during the summertime. In recent years, however, the number of pre-trial prisoners held in prison has been trending downward, as have the number of statewide criminal arrests. • The number of pre-trial prisoners incarcerated on September 1, 2014 (3,553) was the lowest September 1st total since 2003 when 3,550 pre-trial detainees were incarcerated. Urban shootings - YTD • In CT’s 3 largest cities, shooting fatalities are down 31% compared to last year. The number of non-fatal shootings declined by 8% Source: UNH, HPD, NHPD, BPD
