What Are The Prelims For? • To practise under time pressure • To practise working with invigilators • To find out what areas you need to focus on in each subject • To provide evidence of performance to help teachers make estimates for SQA • Can be used for appeal purposes • Are essential if you miss an exam for medical reasons
StudyLeave • Friday 11 January … last day in normal classes • Wednesday 23 January… return to normal classes • Hospitality runs outwith these dates
Timetables • You already have the timetable – if not see Mr Paterson. • Check • Exams • Times • Rooms (when detailed timetables are issued) • Note that some exams run beyond normal period times. • If in doubt speak to your teacher or to Mr Paterson. • Pupils with adjusted arrangements will receive individualised timetable this week from Ms Kerr.
Exam Rules • Attendance/timing – be on time! • Lateness – if you turn up late go straight to Mr Paterson • Leaving an exam • a record is kept of what times you leave an exam. The expectation is that you will remain in exams until the finish time.
Your Conduct • School Uniform suspended for prelims • Invigilators’ instructions must be followed • Items with writing on not permitted • Food/drink not allowed (apart from water) • Bags not allowed in exam rooms • Jackets not allowed in exam rooms • Pencil cases not allowed in exam rooms • Silence at all times in exam rooms • Mobile Phones/mp3s not allowed! • HIGHEST STANDARDS EXPECTED
Seating • You must sit in the seat allocated. • Check your seat number on the exam noticeboard before each exam/paper.
Invigilator Feedback • Pupils need to be on time and well prepared. • Be sure that you have any equipment that you need, such as calculators.
Fire Alarm If the fire alarm sounds … • Exam is still in progress • Follow instructions of the invigilator
Around the Building • Other exams will be running • Other classes are still in progress – the rest of the school is operating as normal BE CONSIDERATE
