  5. Subject Pronouns • What are subject pronouns? • Subject pronouns are used in Spanish to state who you are talking about. Example: Mariaesaburrida. (Ella) • Yo (is used when talking about yourself) • Tú (means you in English) • El (He), Ella (She), Usted (Formal of you) • Nosotros (We) • Vosotros(as) Only used in Spain and means you • Ellas (they female), Ellos ( they male), Ustedes (formall way of saying you)

  6. Verbs • Stem and root of a Spanish verb The stem of the verb is the –ar, -er, -ir ending. The root word is anything that comes before the ending. • Hacer • Poner • Cocinar • Comer • Bailar • Vivir • Masticar • Sacar • Cubrir

  7. Remember • Regular present tense verbs (there is no change in the root word) Comer Yo+o= comoTú+es = comesÉl/Ella/Usted+e = come Nosotros + emos = comemos Ellos/Ellas/Ustedes + en = comen
