Three Questions • What should we have taught you that we didn’t? • What did we teach you that has been most valuable? • What should we eliminate teaching because it is irrelevant?
Rules on Input • Hear once – ignore • Hear twice – think about it • Hear three times – plan for change • Hear four times – CHANGE TOMORROW
What should we have taught you? • Common Themes: • Communication -- In person, phone, email, text, twitter, Facebook. • Hands on Experience with Linux, Unix, DNS, Networks. • Data mining, business intelligence, Data Warehouses
What did we teach you that has been most valuable? • Teamwork • Participating on real teams • How business works and why • Accounting, Finance, Management, Strategy and Policy • Business Experience • Encouraging getting an Internship
What should we eliminate? • Legacy network protocols; interesting but no longer relevant.
Action Plan • Add communication etiquette somewhere • Streamline Telecom course • Continue to stress teamwork • New PM and Team Dynamics course looks good • Software Integration very useful • Make Business Experience required (2011)
