  3. Goal • Improve AIMS test scores • Achieve a rating of “Excelling” • Currently “Highly Performing” • Engage students in new exciting ways • Cutting edge technology is proven to increase interest in most teens

  4. The Solution • Obtain 300 3rdgeneration iPads • 75 classroom units for 9th & 10th grade Math & Science • 100 “take-home” units for 11th graders • 100 “take-home” units for 12th graders • 25 Faculty units http://www.apple.com/education/ipad/

  5. Why the iPad? • Most innovative and engaging education applications • Major publishers already teaming with Apple • Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, McGraw-Hill, Pearson • Cheaper than most laptops • Eliminates piles of heavy books

  8. Is it safe? • Students will have restricted access • Applications like “Safari” will be heavily monitored • Students and parents must agree to FAA’s iPad usage policy • Prohibits in class electronic communication and other disruptive activities

  9. How much will it cost? • Current price per unit = $499 • Educational institution bulk purchase may reduce price of hardware • $10K start-up application licensing • $20K upgrade to FAA network
