William Faulkner1897 - 1962 • Full Name: William Cuthbert Faulkner • Born in: Albany, Mississippi • Spent most of his life in Oxford, Mississippi • Briefly went to the University of Mississippi • Joined and briefly served in the Canadian and later the British Royal Air Force • Spent time as a screen writer in Hollywood
Faulkner Continued. . . Faulkner wrote many volumes of poetry and short stories. Faulkner won the prestigious Nobel Prize in Literature in 1949. Faulkner received it a year later in 1950. Faulkner has been named amongst some of the greatest writers in the 20th century.
