What is V-Counter ? • V-Counter is a system developed by IT Systems that counts the visitors entering a store or an exibition hall. • The system's components both hardware and software were designed to fit any of the customer needs in terms of data aquisition and flexibility. • Based on our experience from retailers the applicability of the system is very wide going from marketing and sales departments to business optimization and personal scheduling.

System design • The V-Counter system is counting the visitors and stores the data to an online database server. • Users can see the information about the number of customers for each shop in real-time for the current day in the Reporting Portal. • The data collected can be used to extract both predefined reports and advanced reports using the Reporting Portal. • In the Reporting Portal the users can choose that the data to be presented in both graphical or text formats.

Reporting Portal • The Reporting Portal gives the user besides the ability to see the data in graphical or text formats, to export the data in comma separated values ( CSV ) format for further processing. • In the Reporting Portal the user credentials are aggregated with the company that the user represents. • The main function of the Reporting Portal is to present the data to the user in the format the user chooses but many other options and functionalities can be added at user's request.

Minimum requirements • The minimum requirements for V-Counter are : • - 1 free serial port ( or an USB-2-Serial adapter ) • - Microsoft Windows OS ( 95,98,2000,XP,Vista ) • - .NET Framework 1.0 for x86 CPU • - .NET Framework 2.0 for x86 CPU • - ODBC MySQL Connector for .NET • The .NET and ODBC packages will be installed by IT Systems if missing.

Q & A • Q – What happens if the internet connection goes down while the system is still running ? • A – The system will create a backlog file in which it will store all the data that could not be written to the database and will post the data in the database when it will be available again. • Q – What will happen if the electricity goes down during the system is started ? • A – Since the system is dependant to the computer it is connected to the system will go down as well. • Q – Can we use the data from V-Counter to integrate it into our ERP or other system ? • A – Yes, the data can be either exported in CSV format and imported in the other system or we can develop an automated interface between the two systems. • Q – Is it possible that the data aquisition component to be connected to an USB port ? • A – No, currently the USB version of the software is under development but you can use an USB-2-Serial adapter cable. • Q – How accurate is the data recorder by V-Counter ? • A – V-Counter assures data accuracy up to 95% .
