How The Partnership Works • Staff coordination to share college-going and college awareness resources • Develop joint lessons to support the use of En Camino modules in ABE and ESOL classrooms • Strengthen pathways from ABE/ESOL programs to CUNY entry, including navigation of application process • Staff professional development on modules and lessons • Disseminate the use of En Camino modules at all CUNY campuses and in adult lit community • Promote intergeneration use of resources at home

  11. Considerations for Lessons • How do current students and their family members view college? • Current awareness of educational and career pathways? • Knowledge of college application process and timelines? • Interactions with community college system? • Access to internet?

  12. Feedback from Students • “Now I can help my younger sister obtain a proper education.” • “Now I know about the system of education. This will be helpful for my family members and my kid.” • “The workshop made me think about my goals more frequently and the pathway to higher education.”

Exploring an En Camino Lesson • Who are the target clients, including family members outside the classroom? • Which college-going topics is the lesson exploring? • Could you implement such a lesson in your organization? • How would you tailor it to your populations or with your faculty? • What further follow-up activities would you include?
