IGEC2 observatory is continuing its search. • Ongoing analysis on Nov.2005 – Dec.2006: • fourfold coincidence 244 days (59%) • threefold coincidence 388 days (94 %).
95 % 98 % 79 % 81 % OPERATION TIME – NOV 16 2005 – DEC 31 2006 411 days • no detector 0 days • Single 0.98 days • Double 21.94 days • Triple144.10days • Quadruple 243.97 days
IGEC 2 analysis procedure • We exchange candidate events lists and auxiliary information produced by each group using a search optimized for -like signals (the amplitude H [Hz-1] exchanged is the fourier component of h, gw strain). • Each group adds a “secret time shift” to the time of the candidate events • Cross check of the filter pipeline on a sample day of raw data. • The analysis is tuned so to allow the identification of the eventual candidates with very high confidence fixing the overall false alarm to 1 over 100 years (an upper limit, at the present sensitivity of the bar detectors, is not an interesting scientific result) • The tuning of the parameters (search thresholds, coincidence window and working periods) is fixed “a priori” by a blind analysis of the background characteristics • Finally, we will exchange the secret time shifts and searched for possible candidates • We will also select candidates with lower statistical significance to be used in possible future joint searches (IFO and/or Astroparticle detectors)
