Attendance • Our School Day: 7:43 a.m.-3:15 p.m. -Students may be dropped at 7:15 a.m. -It is extremely important that your child arrives to school on time – every minute is important and every minute lost only hurts your child. Your child will be considered tardy after the 7:50 a.m. bell. • Absence -A note from the parent/guardian upon returning is required. The note must include the date as well as the reason for the absence. -A students has 48 hours to provide this note to the school or the absence will be counted as unexcused. -It is my policy as a teacher to call after 3 consecutive days when your child is not at school. Therefore, it is extremely helpful to me if you would call or send an email and let me know that your child is going to be absent, if you are able. • Tardies -Every three tardies is considered an absence. Rules and Expectations • Rules • Positive Choices: Clean up your work area. • Respect: Walk when inside. • Include Everyone: Listen and follow directions. • Do the Right Thing: Use a quiet voice. • Encourage Others: Be kind to others. • I love to praise students for their efforts in following the rules. When I catch students “being good”, I give them positive reinforcement to help them become accountable for their behavior. • You will be notified by a note, phone call, email or at a parent/teacher conference if rules are continually broken or misbehavior becomes severe. My goal is to provide a safe and positive learning environment for all students as well as a sense of community in my classroom. • A cat tracks log will be sent home with your child daily sharing how the school day went. Students earn purple paw stamps for making wise choices throughout the day. If a student does not earn a stamp, a brief explanation explaining why will be provided. Please initial the cat tracks log sheet daily and return it back to school on the next school day. • Our class behavior is monitored by the Clip Up-Clip Down Chart
Take Home Materials • Your child should bring home his/her "Shining Bright in Kindergarten" Folder for the first two weeks of school. Afterwards, he/she will bring home his/her P.R.I.D.E. Binder. Both of these will come home daily and should return with your child every day. This is a GREAT way for your child to practice responsibility. This folder and binder are ways to maintain effective communication between home and school. This folder and binder contain everything your child will need for school every day. Encourage your child to become more independent by being responsible for putting his/her folder and binder in his/her backpack every night before going to bed. Please remind your child of the following rules: 1. Please take very good care of your folder and binder. They will be used every day. 2. Please do not make any marks or drawings on your folder or binder. 3. Clean out the "Should Be Left At Home" section every night. 4. Take your folder and binder home with you every day and bring it to school with you in the morning. 5. After your homework is done, put them back in your backpack so you won't forget it! 6. Keep your folder and binder clean. 7. Please do not eat or drink while using them. 8. Show your folder and binder to your family every day. They will be so proud that you are learning responsibility.
Homework and Graded Work • We will start homework the week of September 9th • This packet will be sent home on Monday and will be due by Friday of the same week. • There will be seasonal crafts to complete • We will start graded papers the week of October 28th • If your child makes less than a 70, you will need to sign it, correct it with your child and send it back to school
Lunch • Parents must sign in at the Front Office • Your visitor badge/sticker ONLY grants you access to the cafeteria • Your child is allowed to invite only one friend to eat with them. • Parents and students are to eat in the Parent/Visitor Table (Last table in cafeteria) • You may only bring food for your son/daughter.
Snacks and Birthdays • Snack Time We have snack time every day. If your child has food allergies, please let me know as soon as possible. We will have an afternoon snack to help tide students over since we have lunch early. I will send home the snack schedule later this week. Each child brings a snack in the fall and in the spring. Animal crackers, popcorn, Ritz Cheese Crackers, sandwich crackers, goldfish, beef jerky, cereal, and fruit work best for snack. Please try to send snack as often as you can. • BirthdaysI love birthdays and do celebrate with treats so again, please inform me if certain foods are to be avoided for your child. I have a simple, routine celebration for students whose birthday falls during the school year. If your child has a summer birthday, you may want to plan an "unbirthday" while school is in session. Please contact me to set up a date. On your child's birthday or "unbirthday", you may provide simple birthday treats for the class. Cookies, wrapped treats, juice boxes, treat bags with favors work best. Please abstain from sending treats that contain peanuts. You may send birthday treats at the beginning of the day and they will be enjoyed at Snack Time. You are more that welcome to join us for your child's birthday or "unbirthday" celebration, however, please sign-in at the Front Office and be sure to get a visitor's pass. I do not mind handing out birthday invitations to a party you may be planning away from school, as long there is an invitation for each child. I prefer that there are no individual names on the cards.

Without this card you have to drive to the front office to check your child out • Please bring in your driver licenses or some form of identification • It is very important that if your child is a car rider that you pick them up in the car rider line. Also, you may not walk up and get your child from car rider line pick up.
