Field errors correction strategies Marek Strzelczyk Mike Lamont
Agenda • Sources of errors • Correction methods • Implemented • Planned • Questions & discussion
Sources of errors • MB • Static • b2, b3, b4, b5 • a1, a2, a3 • Dynamic • (b1), b3, b5 • MQ • Static • (b6) • Dynamic • b2 http://lhc-commissioning.web.cern.ch/lhc-commissioning/operations/magnets/fidel-requirements.htm
Implemented correction methods • MB b3 → MCS (per sector) • MB b4 (static) → MCO (per sector) • MB b5 → MCD (per sector) • MB b1 (dynamic) → orbit correctors (per sector)
Planned correction methods • MB b2 → MQTF, MQTD (per sector) • Does not change the tune, but introduces phase advance errors which could be corrected sector by sector if required • MB a2 → MQS (per sector) • MB a3 → MSS (per sector)
What remains • MB a1 → no feed-forward correction • No model • MQ b2 → MQTF, MQTD (as MB b2) • Decay amplitude of ~ 1.3 ± 0.4 units (individual magnet) • No decay parameters given (yet) • MQ b6
