Check in / Check out Process • Referrals: • SAT meetings held on a monthly basis per grade level • Review behavior data • Discuss what has been tried so far • Teacher referral via Social Worker • Discuss what has been tried so far • Observation sometimes needed • Parent referral • Discussion with teachers
The Chart • Two goals MAX • Phrased in positive terms • 4 yr old – 2nd grade: Smiles, Checks, Sads • 3rd – 5th grade: 2, 1, 0 rating • Responsibility of the student to have filled out • 65% success is the first expectation • Increase by 5% as needed
Morning Check In & Afternoon Check Out • Every morning: • Mrs. Priest sees each child and provides them their chart for the day • Discussion of their goals, how their evening went, letting them know they matter • Throughout the day teachers discuss actions • Every afternoon: • Mrs. Priest is set up in the library and students come down to “check out” • Discussion of how their day went, what choices could have been better, what they did well • Make a plan for the next day
Graduation • This is done individually by student • Can be short term • Can be a lifer • Can be a “work off” • Typically they need to maintain at 80% for two to three weeks to “graduate” from CICO • They receive a certificate of completion and a gift
