  1. Lab Safety

  2. Equipment • Equipment needed for proper laboratory safety procedures include: Aprons, goggles, and gloves. These are provided by the teacher and used when instructed. • Clothing that you are mandatory to wear during a lab experiment include: closed toed shoes, long pants, and clothing that covers majority of skin to prevent injuries from spills or accidents

  3. Spills • Chemical spills can cause major damages to equipment and people, causing burns or rashes. • To clean a spill you must immediately notify the teacher of any accident, and put a substance such as cat litter to absorb the chemicals and stop any further damage.

  4. Washing & Showering • In case any chemicals splash up into your eyes seek assistance to guide you to the eye was station located in the front corner of the room or use the sink handles to wash out your eyes at the sinks. • In case of a bad chemical spill remove clothing and stand under the shower station to clean off any excess harmful chemicals. • In case of fires seek the use of fire blanket to cover the flames and contain the outbreak.

  5. Smelling • Never directly smell a substance or chemical out of a test tube or beaker. • Wafting the smell of the chemicals is a far less harmful way to get a scent from your experiment.
