  2. Assembly Document • Fusion does not have the concept of a part document or assembly document • When you start a new document, it could become a part or an assembly depending on how you create your model • An Assembly in Fusion is contained in a single document

Components • A Fusion document has a root component. • Add more components to the document in order to make an assembly • Use the context menu on the browser • Use the Heads-Up menu when creating a new body. • Fusion has a concept of an active component. • Any component can be made the active component • Any new sketches are added under the active component • Any bodies created will belong to the active component • Assemble components using constraints

  4. Tips and Tricks • Use the copy/paste functionality to duplicate components by creating component instances. • Edits made to one instance will affect all instances • Use existing geometry in the document to help create new components • Create sketches on existing solid faces • Use the sketch project tool to project existing geometry onto a sketch plane • Use work planes to mirror parts.
