My favourite topic was when we learnt about Madagascar and we became experts on certain species. I did mammals of Madagascar.
This is the ring-tailed lemur I had to research on how lemurs are different from other primates.
I enjoyed this unit because I got to research on animals I didn’t know much about and I had lots of fun making the Powerpoint which I made entirely by myself.
I also researched on why the kinkajou is not a lemur, the loris, bushbabies, the potto, tarsiers and the angwantibo. The kinkajou is not a lemur!
Facts! • The four ridges on the bush baby's ears allow the ears to wrinkle up! • Bush babies have a second tongue! • Bush babies can jump 2m! • Lorises are poisonous! • Slow lorises have extra vertebrate! • Lemur means “spirits of the dead” because they are nocturnal and they howl really loud!
Prosimian means “before monkey”! • Prosimians have been around for 65 million years! • Red-ruffed lemurs are extremely vocal, early explorers mistook the sounds for groans/wails of the dead! • Kinkajou genetic studies show it belongs to the family Procyonidae(Raccoon Family)!
Thank You! Bye! Thanks for listening! Any Questions? Next time though I could add more photos and make the slides less busy.
