Conclusion • Ic-ariin inhibits the replication of SIV dose-dependently • Ic-ariin may transiently delay the apoptosis of CEM x174 triggered by SIVmac251. • Ic-ariin increased the percentage of viable cells while also decreasing the percentage of apoptotic cells in both the normal and SIVmac251 infected groups. But the effect of Ic-ariin in the SIVmac251 infected group was more marked than in normal cells. • Activating the cAMP-PKA signaling pathway might be one of the inhibitory mechanism for the apoptosis of CEM x174 triggered by SIVmac251
