What is Psychological Therapy? • Psychological therapy is literally just taking a trip to the brain doctor. Not the neurosurgeon that will stick scary microscopic things into your brain, but the doctor that deals with the feels. The doctors, or health psychologist as they are better known as, are the ones that deal with the feels and are important. They are definitely not given the credit they are due. Things like stress, anxiety, chronic frustration, a melancholic life attitude all dissolve once you get into psychological therapy.
Who is a health psychologist? • It is important to know what exactly a health psychologist does. They take the plunge, right into your mind, totally unbiased. They want to help you and they want the truth no matter what it is. If you deeply despise the colour pink to an extent that it causes you immense frustration when you look at it, nobody will understand you; except a health psychologist. Does this mean you are mad? No. This just means that the health psychologist will help identify the reason why this occurs, the brain after all is the most complex organ. They will then help you get over it!
Do you need psychological therapy? • Psychological therapy is all about fixing yourself when you feel you are at discomfort. It could be: Chronic depressionLow self-esteem issues Dealing with loss Dealing with an illness Dealing basically, with an unpleasant situation, that you cannot bring yourself out of.
How does a health therapist help? • A health therapist will provide you with a comforting atmosphere where you can take the time to let down your guard, peel of your social mask and actually be you. You don’t need to be someone you’re not in therapy and you can break down your problems to a non-biased health therapist who has been identified by you, to help you. There is a lot of talk therapy and cognitive behavioural therapy involved where a lifestyle change may be suggested or meditation or even medication depending on your problem.
How will you benefit from psychological therapy? • Psychological therapy will help you strengthen your self confidence. It will help you improve your relationship skills and strengthen your relationships. The therapy will help you deal with the pain from your past. It will help you identify and change the behaviour that tends to hold you back. Overall, psychological therapy and a session with a health therapist helps you get your life on track where you feel like a collected and calm person.
