  1. EE 396 Micromouse Spring 2007 Preliminary Design Review CheezStix!

  2. Members Toy Lim – Project Manager Kyle Montpas – Software Leader Tyson Kikugawa – Hardware Leader

  3. Overview • Design and build an autonomous robotic mouse to find its way to the center of a maze as fast as possible

  4. PC RS232 Dynamic C RS232 Emulator USB Sense Top-Down Sensors ‘04 Side Sensors ADC Drive H-Bridge Driver IC Bipolar Motors System Block Diagram AC Adapter Programming Cable FT232 Power Li+ Charger Rabbit µP RCM 2020 5.1V DC-DC Converter 4.096V VREF LiPo Batteries CheezStix! µMouse

  5. Sensors Top-down Sensors Side Sensors A/D Converter Testing to determine implementation Placement Coding with Movement

  6. Top-Down Sensor QRD1114 Reflective Object Sensor

  7. Possible Placement • Two sensors on each side • One on the front and back • Testing to determine physical geometry to allow turning without losing orientation

  8. Side Sensor Sharp Distance Sensor (GP2Y0A21YK)

  9. A/D Converter Sensor output – analog (voltage), depending on distance Rabbit reads in digital Sensor --/--> Rabbit

  10. Possible Placement • Two sensors in front and back of mouse • Angled to account for the distance limits • Can determine distance after A/D conversion

  11. To Do List Test Motor Torque with Prototype structure Complete acquisition of parts Design PCBs Complete final structure Develop code Test and Debug

  12. Expected Problems • Time! TIME!!! • Developing/Fabrication of structure • Programming/Debugging • USB Charging too slow? • Motor torque • Sensors – use and implementation

  13. Revised Schedule

  14. Deliverable Goals • Have a working mouse • Be able to find the center of the maze • Compete in Mini-Competition – May 5
