  2. Qualitative And Quantitative Data Qualitative Quantitative Data that is difficult to measure, count or express in numerical terms in a sensible fashion. Data is in the Numerical form. e.g. number of years experience of the interviewees, age of the interviewee, Number of project department handles etc.

  3. It may be possible to record or express qualitative data in a numerical form, but that does not mean that it is sensible to do so. • There is a assumption that certain forms of data gathering techniques will result in only qualitative or quantitative data. But this is a fallacy. e.g. Questionnaires and Observation

  4. Quantitative analysis uses numerical methods to ascertain the magnitude, amount or size of something. e.g. Describing population. The average person is 5 feet 11 inches tall, weighs 180 pounds and is 45 years old. • Qualitative analysis focuses on nature of something and can be represented by themes, patterns and stories. e.g. Describing population. The average person is tall, thin and middle-aged.

  5. The First Step in Analyzing Data • After data gathering sessions are performed, there is some initial processing of the data normally required before data analysis can begin. • In different data gathering techniques we have different ways in which initial processing of data takes place.
