Leadership at the Top • Visible • Others must see and hear the commitment • Visibility must be evident even when the “usual suspects” are not in the room. • Specific • What are the trends in EO complaints? • Metrics • Personal • Provide leadership with performance measures • Leaders message most effective when they share their own “personal EO story”. • Persistent • More constant message than just Observance speeches. • Intentional • “This is what I want to happen.” Equal Opportunity: "Defending America's Freedom"
The Impact of EO on Mission Readiness • Core Values • Good order and discipline • Morale and QOL • EO climate = unit cohesion and mission readiness • EO climate promotes dignity and respect for all Equal Opportunity: "Defending America's Freedom"

This is accomplished by the DEOMI Organizational Climate Survey (DEOCS) and a minimum of two of the following: A. Review of records and reports B. Individual interviews C. Observations D. Focus Groups E. Other methods deemed appropriate by the commander
