Course Outline • Evaluation • It is important to stay on top of course work • Thoughthis class works on an at-your-own-pace mentality, itisexpectedthatyou are completingyour course work in a timelyfashion
Course Outline • Final Project • The followingassignments are required of the student in English 10/20 • Personalresponse, criticalanalysis of text and context, narratives, persuasive pieces, and visual and multimediapresentations • Over the course of the semester, youwill have an opportunity to perfecttheseassignments and submityour best work for final assessment
Course Outline • Quizzes and Tests • Though the majority of your marks will come fromprojects and your final exam, quizzes and tests willstillbeusedthroughout the semester to determine the understanding of course content • In the eventthatyoufail a quiz or test, youwill have the opportunity to re-write the quiz or test, afterit has been determinedthatsufficient time has been spentreviewing the content
Course Outline • MissedAssignments and Tests • If you miss a class, itisyourresponsibility to make up the missedwork • No assignment, project, quiz, or test willbeexcusedwithout a phone call from a parent excusingyoufromschool
Course Outline • AcademicDishonesty • If a studentiscaughtplagiarizingwork, eitherfromanotherstudent, the textbook, or the internet, thatstudentwillreceive a grade of zero on the assignment • All cases of plagiarismwillbereviewed by administration

Class Structure • Though class willprimarilybestructured in a work-at-your-own-pace way, therewillbedayswhere instruction willbegiven, notes willbetaken, and assignmentswillbecompleted in class • Projectswillalwaysbecompleted in choice format

SchoolRules • No hats • No techapps • No texting • No social media • No clockchecking • If you are caughtwith a techapp, youwill have an opportunity to place it in yourlocker or backpack • Failing to complywiththiswillresult in the techappbeingchecked in to the office • A techappisanydevicethat has the capability of sending a text message and/or connecting to the internet
Miss Peister’sPersonalRules • It is important to me thateveryonefeeltheybelong in this class and thatthey are safe sharing theirideas and opinions • Therefore, the followingruleis non-negotiable and must befollowed: • There willbe no disrespectfulbehavior of anykind
Miss Peister’sPersonalRules • The followingwillbeconsidereddisrespectful • Anycommentsdirectedatanotherstudent or teacherthat are deemedhurtful, rude, inconsiderate, mean, or otherwisedemeaning in anyway • Thesecommentsinclude (but are no meanslimited to) the use of swearwords, gay, retarded, or otherhatefulremarks
Miss Peister’sPersonalRules • If a studentcannotabide by thisrule, he or shewillbeasked to spend the remainder of the block in the office • A formal office referralwillbesubmitted to administration • If multiple office referrals are submitted to administration in one semester, the teacher and administration reserve the right to re-address the student’s placement in the classroom
Miss Peister’sPersonalRules • It is important to rememberthateveryoneiswelcome in thisclassroom and everyone has the right to besuccessful • It is ok if you do not like the assignment and itis ok if you do not like the class • However, thereis a polite, appropriateway to express yourdislikes
