  1. PRESENTATION on SOLAR TRACKING SYSTEM BY NEHA SHARMA & ARPIT JAIN

  2. CONTENTS • Introduction • Brief Description of the components used • Resistor • Capacitor • Transistor(NPN) • DC Motor • Light dependent resistor(LDR) • Diode • Light emitting diode • Principle of operation • Applications • Advantages

  3. INTRODUCTION • An alternative source of energy is rapidly gaining importance as there is shortage of electrical power generated in India. • One of the most popular alternative source is SOLAR ENERGY. • This project has been designed to built a solar panel tracker system, or you can call sun tracking solar panel.

  4. INTRODUCTION • Solar tracking enables more energy to be generated because the solar panel is able to maintain a perpendicular profile to the sun at all the time. • This system will track the sun during day light hours. • It is done with the active control not with timed out movements.

  5. COMPONENTS USED

  6. BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE COMPONENTS USED

  7. RESISTOR • Resistors are nothing but the hurdles and obstacles in the path of electrons flowing in the wire. • After flowing current from resistor we will observe fall in voltage, which something makes the flow of electrons or current possible.

  8. CAPACITOR • Capacitor store electrons by attracting them to a positive voltage. • Its applications includes:- • Creating timers • Smoothing out voltage • Blocking DC current • Adjusting frequency

  9. TRANSISTOR(NPN) • Transistors are nothing but a kind of switches. • We can control the switch using voltage on base pin. • In NPN giving High Voltage to the base will pass the current from collector to emitter or from emitter to collector.

  10. DC MOTOR • Motors provide motion to the machine directly. • It controls the motion of solar panel by electrical signal as it convert electrical energy to mechanical energy.

  11. LIGHT DEPENDENT RESISTOR(LDR) • It is a resistor whose resistance is inversely proportional to intensity of light falling on the LDR. • It is also called photo resistor.

  12. DIODE • It is the simplest form of semiconductors. • Diodes are generally used for blocking the current in the particular direction because that current can the circuit.

  13. LIGHT EMITTING DIODE(LED) • It is simply a diode which will emit light if you will make it forward biased. • They come in different colors: Red, Blue and Green mostly.

  14. PRINCIPLE OF OPERATION • This is a power generating method from sunlight. • This method of power generation is simple and is taken from natural resource. This need only maximum sunlight to generate power. • This project helps for power generation by setting the equipment to get maximum sunlight automatically. This system is tracking for maximum intensity of light. • When there is decrease in intensity of light , this system automatically changes its direction to get maximum intensity of light. • Here we are using two sensors in two directions to sense the direction of maximum intensity of light. The difference between the outputs of the sensors is given to the microcontroller unit.

  15. PRINCIPLE OF OPERATION • Here we are using the microcontroller for tracking and generating power from sunlight. • It will process the input voltage from the comparison circuit and control the direction in which the motor has to be rotated so that it will receive maximum intensity of light from the sun. • The power generated from this process is then stored in a lead acid battery and is made to charge an emergency light and is made to glow during night

  16. APPLICATIONS CONSUMER APPLICATIONS INDUSTRIAL APPLICATIONS Contactless wind speed & direction sensor. EPC & Barcode scanner Glass breakage monitor Magnetic encoder X stage • Laser printer • Mobile phone • Portable audio player • Portable navigation device/GPS • Remote control • Wireless mouse

  17. ADVANTAGES • Solar technologies use solar power to provide affordable electrical energy to isolated communities. Solar can charge through the day using the sun’s rays and provide hours of light after dark. • In most rural places in the developing world there is no electrical supply at night to light up homes, streets etc. Solar power can also be used to run other pieces of equipment such as computers and refrigerators.

  18. ADVANTAGES • This solar tracking system is eco friendly by nature. • Create no pollution at all. • Advantageous in all respect be it price , safety or environment.
