Cycle Superhighways Overview • First two routes launch in July 2010 • 12 routes by 2015 • Strong partnerships with businesses and boroughs • 120,000 new cycling journeys a day • TfL will work with 1,200 businesses to improve facilities at the ‘work-end’ of the routes for cycle commuters 19th July
Cycle Superhighway Workplace Offering • Businesses within 1.5km of a route • Minimum 50 staff on a site • Site based • Target 200 business for the first 2 pilot routes • Target 1,200 over all 12 routes
Results to date • Under 300 Expressions of Interest have been received • 54 have fully registered for the scheme • Equivalent of 20,000 employee’s!
End Goal • Businesses engaged in the cycling revolution • 2010 marks a step change in TfL’s cycling activity • TfL & boroughs focused on providing safer infrastructure, more security and better communications • = More Londoners than ever viewing cycling as a quick, cheap and healthy way to travel around the city
