Casa Guatemala Orphanage • Since 1983, it has been a Steveston tradition to raise funds, sponsor, assist and visit the Casa Guatemala Orphanage.
Casa Guatemala Orphanage • Established in 1977, the orphanage provides a permanent home for approximately one hundred abandoned, abused and malnourished children. It also serves as a school and a medical clinic for the local community.
Casa Guatemala Orphanage Located on the river Rio Dulce near the town of Fronteras, the orphanage is a six-hour bus ride from Guatemala City.

Guillermo Perez • a Guatemalan of Mayan ancestry • from the village of Las Brisas near the orphanage • studied at Steveston Secondary School 1994-1995 • graduated from Evelyn Rogers College in Guatemala • administrator for the Ak’Tenamit Project
Ak’Tenamit Project • a self-help development project that provides education, health, agriculture and income-generating programs for Q’eqchi (kek’chee) Mayan people
Steveston’s contribution to Ak’Tenamit Project • providing clothing, stationary, dental and medical supplies, and sporting equipment
Steveston’s contribution to the village of Las Brisas • providing clothing, stationary, dental and medical supplies
