1) Pronoun • Definition: A word that replaces a proper noun • Ex: I, you, he, she, it, we, they, me, us, somebody, anyone, either, both, few • You and I vs. You and me • “You” test: take away “you” from the sentence, if it makes sense to have “I”, then use “I”, if not, change the word to “me” • Alex and me played basketball in the driveway while we were waiting for dinner to be prepared. • My family loves my brothers and me so much.
2. Prepositions • Definition: Garbage words that show a relationship (often a spatial relationship). • Prepositional Phrases • EX: My shoe was hiding under my bed when it should have been in my closet. • Write seven prepositions to put in the blank space. • Rover walked ____________ the stream.

6. Adjectives (adj) • Definition: a word that describes a noun • On a piece of paper, fill in the blanks. The ________ tree fell close to the __________ car, startling the lady. Adjectives Cont. • Adjectives can look like a verb, don’t let this confuse you. • EX: Screaming, Violet threw her hands in the air when the roller coaster zoomed down the hill. • EX: Tennis played with one person is much more of a workout than when it is played with two people.
7. Adverb (adv) • Definition: these are words that describe adjectives, verbs, and OTHER adverbs. • 90% end in ‘ly’ • EX: Koda is extremely tall like a horse, but super cute. • Adverbs answer when, where, how, and how often. • EX: Tony “The Shoe” Mandretti jumped high on the outside, spun twice, feinted left, and then suddenly the ball was soaring effortlessly to the hoop.
8. Interjections • Definition: Filler noises, or a word that is designed to carry emotion. • EX: OW! Charlie, that really hurt.
