Data Matching Postsecondary data from the MT Office of the Commissioner of Higher Education (OCHE – only Montana Colleges and Universities – currently no tribal colleges) K12 data from the MT Office of Public Instruction (OPI) • There is a collaborative agreement between the two institutions • There is currently no common identifier. Data are matched on name/birthdate/high school/etc. at OPI. Data owned by OPI • In the future, the colleges will receive the OPI common identifier through a high school transcript solution • We are working on a transcript/transport for all the high school level data – Spring of 2015 SLDS Webinar 5/21/14

34. Research Directions Determine the definition of college readiness and assess which HS factors are associated with college readiness. Enhance the High School Feedback report to include some course results (e.g. explore the relationship between HS English/Math courses taken/grades and grades in postsecondary English/Math). Assess the impact of the state’s school turnaround efforts such as the School Improvement Grant schools and Schools of Promise in making their students ready for college. Assess the impact of educational programs that such as International Baccalaureate curriculum, AP classes, Digital Academy courses, etc. Assess the effect of extracurricular activities at the high school level on graduates being college ready.
