What is it? • The “cast of characters” page comes right after the “Title” page. • It provides a list of every single character in the cast (no matter how small a role), with a brief description of each.
What is its purpose? • The “Cast of Characters” page is there for somebody *reading* the play to get a sense of who the characters are. • It’s more important for readers than the audience because there are no faces, voices, outfits. • Helps a director during casting, because it gives the author’s vision about what each actor should be like.
Format Character #1 Name: Brief, 1-2 sentence description of character #1. Life station, occupation, age, relationships to other characters. Character #2 Name: Brief, 1-2 sentence description of character #2. …Character #N Name: Brief, 1-2 sentence description of character #2.
Example: • On my page on the school website, check “Classwork” and find the “Cast of Characters Eample.” • You don’t need to *do* anything with it, just look.
