The Stanford Prison Experiment Ethical Problems -April Atkinson
Participants could not leave the study except for health reasons that were deemed adequate by medical advisors. • The study was halted after six days, but was scheduled to last two weeks.
Participants were arrested by a police officer and booked as a normal criminal. • They were only allowed to wear gowns (no undergarments). • They became a “number” instead of a name. • One prisoner would be sent to isolation to see how they would react when they had done nothing wrong. Humiliation
Zimbardo did not remove himself from the study. Although, the study was halted it should not have gone on as long as it did. • http://www.tubechop.com/watch/2125121 Dr. Phillip Zimbardo
