The New Hampshire “CORE” Energy Efficiency Programs • Portfolio of programs to improve efficiency • 3 targeted to business customers • Statewide – all NH customers have access • Administered by New Hampshire Electric Co-op, Public Service of NH, National Grid and Unitil • Funded through NH System Benefits Charge • Energy Efficiency: $0.0018 per kWh ($20.6 M) • Low Income (EAP): $0.0012 per kWh ($13.7 M)
Commercial & Industrial Programs • Small Business Energy Solutions • Up to 50% of the installed cost or buy down to a 1 year payback • Large Business Energy Solutions • Up to 35% of the installed cost or buy down to a 1 year payback • New Equipment & Construction • Up to 75% of incremental cost or buy down to a 1 year payback

NHEC Fossil Fuel Program • Maximum rebate $5,000
smartSTART Electric • Utility pays entire upfront cost for EE measures • Customers/Members billed a monthly payment • Payment is set to be less than the savings • NHEC - All members are eligible (fuel neutral) • PSNH – Municipalities only (electric)
NH Net Metering for Renewables • Renewable System must be rated at 100kW or less • Solar PV, Wind, or Hydro • Meter spins backward – in effect uses the grid as a storage battery • Only allowed on one meter – no neighborhood metering
NHEC Incentives • Small Wind - 25% of installed cost up to $3,500 • Solar PV - $3.00 / Watt up to $3,500 • Solar Hot Water – 25% of installed cost up to $1,500
Community Projects • Join with others in your community to install a system • The larger the system the lower the cost per kW • Federal Tax Credits • Sell energy for $0.04 - $0.10 / kWh
Sell Renewable Energy Certificates for $0.02 - $0.15 / kWh • Depreciate the asset • Stabilize your energy costs • Various business arrangements: • partner with developers • lease your land and buy power from developer • install it and own it outright (form an LLC)
