HSE LEARNING. INCIDENT: A Mitsubishi Dyna with 6 man crew hit a camel whilst driving at night. The crew was returning from from Jawdah to Nimr for their overnight accommodation after offloading loads as part of a twilight operation prior to annual rig maintenance.

The crew was returning from • from Jawdah to Nimr for their overnight • accommodation after offloading loads as part of a • twilight operation prior to annual rig maintenance. • The front passenger sustained a broken leg. • CAUSES : • Over speeding during a night journey. • Inadequate assessment and planning of a twilight operation • LEARNINGS: • Always drive within night driving speed Limits (50 kmph graded roads, 80 kmph blacktop roads). • Avoid night driving where possible.
